laugh of the week...

Based on my post stats, my laugh of the week posts are struggling in popularity, but I think I've realized they're more for me than any kind of audience. Sometimes things can get too stressful or too serious and I just need a laugh. 

I recently watched Lisa Ling's special on the teen pregnancy "epidemic" covered on "Our America" so this seemed timely. I'm a huge proponent of abstinence, but I also believe in education. One of the girls featured on "Our America" had two children as a teen and had refused birth control because her friends told her it would make her fat. One of my friends stated the obvious in reminding the girl you gain weight in pregnancy too! Either way... there are a lot of mixed messages and crazy myths out there that need debunking!

Sports teams have been doing choreographed dances to songs for years... or at least our baseball team has... somehow Harvard baseball went viral with "Call Me Maybe" and now SMU rowing has a rebuttal. These are almost as much fun as rain delay dance-offs. Name your winner!

I've been a little missing in action the blog lately which usually implies I've been working too much. When work gets stressful I need to remember things that make me laugh... Lately I've been grateful for the people around me who can keep me laughing. Sometimes we lose perspective and I want to remember it's ok to enjoy thing thing we call life!

I've had so many good laughs thanks to so many good people in my life... I'm guessing most of my funny moments wouldn't be funny to anyone else, but just know it is good to surround yourself with people who make you laugh... or can help you laugh at yourself!

The hype around the super bowl is a funny thing... The marketing has found a way to encompass both sports fans and non-sports fans through the high priced commercials and halftime show. Social media allows you to follow you the event nearly in real time through everyone's posts. It was a great reminder you can't please everyone when I had people loving Madonna and people hating her. I saw people praising the commercials and people complaining. I wasn't completely focused on any of it, but I've decided (and I realize I'm probably alone) the m&m's commercial was my fave... enjoy!

This week's laugh is more than just a laugh... Pastor Craig Morrison shared the video with the congregation on Sunday and I thought it was hilarious with a great message.

Flash mobs are definitely "in" these days and I'm a complete sucker for them. I really wanted to be in Kelly Clarkson's new video where she invited fans to record themselves for a flash mob video, but I'm still learning the moves!

Sometimes I wonder why I share laughs at the expense of myself, but then I'm reminded we have to laugh at ourselves! I'm okay with laughing at myself... especially my 10-year-old self. I stumbled across these last week and had to share.
